Overview:
A group of German tommy-gunners had seized some buildings at the intersection of Respublikanskaya and Kievskaya streets, and to evict them General Chuikov organized an immediate counterattack. A platoon of tanks that was positioned near the slopes of Mamyev Kurgan was quickly dispatched to conduct the attack.Attacker: Russian (3rd Battalion, 42nd Guards Regiment, 13th Guards Rifle Division / 23rd Tank Corps)

The Russians came in heavy on the east edge of the German set up area but the attack bogged down when he hit the wide city streets. He tried to bring his t40s in behind me but ran into my concealed AT gun which quickly got rid of them. I finally broke down his defense of the west edge and ran a few units into the German area late in the game. This ensured that the Russians would have to capture a stone location in my set up area and eliminate a couple MMCs to win. Some effective fire in German turn 4 made it impossible to get to the Germans that had fallen back in the south and the Russians conceded. Fun scenario plays quickly. | |
