Overview:
With the arrival of the bad weather, the German advance in the Caucasus became more and more difficult. The Red Army took every possibility offered by the terrain in order to slow down the Axis troops, tired after several months of fighting. Nevertheless, on September 23rd, the final push of the AOK against Tuapse, on the Black Sea coast, began. On the 25th, the 198 Infantry Division along with a Slovakian division was tasked to seize the Popova Heights, right in the middle of of the axis of advance of the LVII Panzer Korps. After fierce fighting, the heights were conquered and the advance was renewed in a southern valley.Attacker: German / Slovakian (Grenadier-Regiment 326 and of the 20th Slovakian Infantry Regiment)

2024-11-02 | (D) Mark Thompson | vs | German/Slovak (David Blackwood) | German / Slovakian win | The Russians placed lighter blocking forces in the NW and NE quadrants, an MMG with Commissar (G9) in the SW, and an MMG (Y7) and HIP'd MTR (X7) in the SE. The Axis attacked heavily in the NW (Germans) and NE & SE (Slovaks), with their HMG on NE level 2 hill with 9-1. Attacks were slowed a bit by HS pickets, the MMGs, and a RoF tear by the Russian MTR. However, the NW hilltop was taken by turn 2 and the German MTR there hit almost anything in woods and within range, including 7 RoF shots against the Commissar, with a CH to boot. In turn 3, the SE Russian MTR & MMG both malf'd, and a wild race toward the VC hexes ensued with Mud hampering movement but Heavy Rain in the middle turns dampening Defensive Fire. The Russians managed to reach the VC hexes first, took Crest Status where appropriate, and nicked the Axis up a bit, but were eventually overwhelmed and conceded at the end of their Player Turn 5. Fun scenario where Russians must conduct an effective fighting withdrawal and get the set-up right. Here, they were understrength on the NW hill, failed to place their MTR there, and probably retreated a turn late - which is almost always fatal when playing a skilled opponent.
2024-11-01 | (A) David Garvin | vs | Rich Domovic | Russian win | My first foray into Friday Night Fight club. Had a blast! Great fun! Lost it on the final turn as I tried to get my last Germans into the Objective area. That said, the Slovaks did quite well and were able to meet their end of the bargain.
2021-06-20 | (A) Fabio Malino | vs | Mario | German / Slovakian win | Some favorable CCs at the beginning of the game allowed me to break through the Russian lines and to pursue my opponent to the end
2020-08-28 | (D) Matias Dahlbäck | vs | Tuomo Lukkari | German / Slovakian win | A terrible Russian defense met a deadly Slovakian HMG. The axis waltzed to victory at the start of turn 4.
2014-02-16 | (D) nathan wegener | vs | Mike G | Russian win | Tough on Axis. Russian used an upfront defense and stuffed the Slovak attack. Key frontline HS stopped a platoon of Slovak elite squads cold with first fire breaking one squad where it rout and then freezing 2 for the remainder of the game in Melee. SLAB14 |
