Overview:
Colonel Antonio Garcia Navarro gathered 1500 volunteers in Latvia to form the “Blue Legion”. It consisted of three banderas, the Spanish term for small battalion. The first two battalions were infantry, and the third had three support companies including light artillery and anti-tank guns. The “Blue Legion” came back to the front in December and was attached to the German 121.Infanterie-Division. In January, the Red Army winter offensive repulsed the besiegers of Leningrad. Soon afterwards, the whole of Heeresgruppe Nord began a retreat under pressure from the Soviet forces. The “Blue Legion” followed the German retreat and fell back in a fighting withdrawal through the freezing wind and snow.Attacker: Russian/Partisan (Reinforced elements of the 115th Rifle Corps and Partisans of the 1st Partisan Brigade)

Poor morale check rolls mauled my squads and then I couldn't get hits with my mortars or my tanks. Dan's mortar did a number on me throughout the game with rate of fire tears. His AT gun would knock out one tank. At great cost, my Russians took 7 points of buildings and on the final turn had a shot at another 4, but it didn't happen. My opponent had the greater luck during the game and my Russians suffered accordingly. Tough scenario for the Russians. | ||
