Overview:
The Romanian 4th Army was ordered by the Soviets to attack the Sangeorgiu Hill mass near Oarba de Mures. The Soviets provided no armor support, even though it was available. The Fourth Army’s 11th Division was ordered to attack the village itself, while the 9th Division attacked the hills. The SS were dug-in on the mountain mass in fortified positions. The attack began on 22 September in terrible weather and the Romanians were supported by no fewer than seven artillery battalions. The initial attacks were repulsed by machine gun fire, artillery, and Stukas, inflicting heavy losses on the Romanians. The Romanians continued to attack for several days, constantly pounding the defenders with artillery.Attacker: Romanian (Elements of 36th Regiment, 9th Romanian Infantry Division)
Defender: German (SS) (Elements of 8th SS Cavalry Division "Florian Geyer")

2017-02-24 | (A) Paolo Cariolato | vs | Federico Corso | Romanian win | The German player needs a good plan to stop the romanian horde, hoping for ROF is not enough. A good trench and bunker network with a mine icing and wire topping could be sufficient to leave enough good order German squads on 4 level hills to snatch a victory, but there is not much skulking space. An element to take carefully into consideration. | ||
