Overview:

Model’s Ninth Army found itself in a desperate struggle to capture and hold the Teploye heights. The hills commanded the surrounding terrain and would allow the Ninth Army to continue its move toward Kursk. The Soviet 70th Army, however, was prepared for the attack. The Germans found the heights heavily defended by the now well trained Red Army.
