Overview:
Under the pretext that Poland had appropriated certain Slovak territories during the Munich Crisis in September 1938, the Slovak government contributed three infantry divisions to the German Army Group South, specifically the 14th Army. They were tasked with flank protection of the eastern wing of the Army Group South’s initial thrust into the Carpathian area of Poland. One such town that had to be cleared was Sanok. The Polish units in the area were mainly lightly armed border units which did not have much in the way of artillery or heavy support weapons. The recon company moved into position and at once dismounted from their bicycles and wagons. They led an assault with support from some light mortars.Attacker: Slovak (Elements of Reconnaissance Company, 1st Slovak Division)
Defender: Polish (Elements of the Polish 18th Border Battalion and local police forces)

2024-10-07 | (A) Jobbo Fett | vs | JobboFett | Slovak win | A methodical approach to the village ended with numerous failed shots by the Poles, culminating in a large number of Close Combat actions, which I suddenly realised I frontloaded the Polish defense with some Green troops, who immediately got ambushed and captured in various ways and combats. It was rather fun to see that interaction, as well as remembering that Interrogation was a thing. By Turn 4, the Slovaks had amassed enough Prisoner CVP that they simply needed to hold a building or two and be guaranteed a victory. The Polish forces were diminished to the point that achieving such success would be next to impossible. | ||
