Overview:

"Summer Cleaning" - The Soviet 2nd assault army, spearhead of the winter offensive north of Novograd, bored into the German front. The Russians could not exploit this opening as the pillars of the breach were firmly held. On March 19th, the Germans attacked and closed the pocket around the 2nd Army. The latter, isolated from any supplies, was trapped and couldn't break the lock. The Germans let the situation worsen until June 21st, when the clearing of the pocket began. Elements of the "Azul" 250th Infantry Division attacked toward Maloye Samoshie from the south. After having progressed 3 kilometers across the wooded and marshy ground, the 3/262 was blocked by a hail of Russian machine gun fire.
