Overview:
The Falaise Pocket campaign was bringing about a highly successful end to the fighting in Normandy. The jaws of the trap were about to be shut on the German Armies. The German commanders knew what had to be done and how to do it. There were three bridges across the Dives capable of bearing tanks and the only one not yet in Allied hands was at St. Lambert. Canadian forces secured the village of St. Lambert on the morning of the 19th. The next night, the Germans made a last ditch break-out attempt. . .Attacker: German (SS) (353rd Infantry Division; 116th Panzer Division; 12th SS Panzer Division Hitler Jugend; Schwere SS Panzer Abteilung 101)
Defender: Canadian (C Sqdn, South Alberta Regt; B&C Cos., Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada)

2023-11-03 | (A) nathan wegener | vs | Dave Mareske | German (SS) win | Really enjoyed this scenario. High quality troops with plenty of options. Germans must push hard but not expose themselves too much. British can hide and surprise using the terrain to slowly drop back. The hill is a sneaky spot for the defense but is it worth stranding someone up there? My opponent bagged a Tiger and a Pz4 from that spot. That might be the minimum for each of the 17pdrs. The other 17pdrs got only a Panther between them having some armor at the end of the game saved it for me. I was able to encircle and eliminate several units for failure to rout. Game went down to final half turn and I was able to break the final 2 MMC with fire. | ||
