At 1130 hours the southern spearhead Schnelle Gruppe Mitte (Rapid-Advance Group Centre) of Infantry Regiment (Motorized) Leibstandarte reached the bridge at Zutphen and determined that the Ijssel crossing at had been destroyed. From the upper floor of one of the higher buildings the Germans could recognize the first Dutch positions. These were bunkers built into the slope of the western riverbank and stretched several hundred metres across level meadowlands. Oberstrumführer Frey received the order to force a crossing immediately in assault-troop fashion.

What a fun scenario! Nick's forces got over in fairly good order, but unfortunately (for me), many of my first line squads became 2nd line in the pre-game TC. Still, had a blast!

VASL-The German movement to the river and the disembarkation after crossing were disrupted by accurate Dutch rifle and machine-gun fire. The German FO position was spotted by the Dutch and eliminated by a subsequent HMG ROF tear. One Dutch bunker was captured within the small German bridgehead by the scenario end.
