Overview:
The demise of the German fortunes on the Eastern Front also was causing problems for Germany's Allies. With the siege of Leningrad broken, the STAVKA was committed to launch an offensive to knock the Finns out of the war. In the much disputed Karelia region the Soviet 109th Corps launched an offensive on the Finnish "V-T Line" near Kuuterselka. Backed by heavy artillery and tanks the Russian steamroller was again directed at the war weary Finns after a two-year lull. The men of JP-2 lay right in the path of the Russian advance, with orders to "hold at any cost". For the Finnish troops on the receiving end of this display of the Russian "Gods of War", the artillery, all that could be done was to hunker down and wait out the barrage. The roar of tank engines was heard as soon as the barrage lifted. Shock troops accompanied by tanks were seen cautiously approaching Finnish positions.Attacker: Russian (32nd Guards Tank Regiment)
