Overview:
The fighting in the city of Wuerselen had raged for three days, with the U.S. gaining barely 1 km of ground. The attack needed to continue to make the linkup with VII Corps, which was attacking from the south, and close the ring around Aachen. On the morning of the 15th, elements of the 116th Infantry Regiment continued the attack, supported by the 2nd Armored tankers. The attack ran into 156th Panzer Aufklärungs Abteilung and the Americans successfully pushed them back, with both sides suffering casualties.
