Overview:
Colonel Reuben Tucker personally appealed to General Gavin to allow his 504th Regiment to attack Cheneux. Friendly civilians had reported a large column of German vehicles, including tanks, encamped there. Normally an American infantry regiment would request a battalion of armor for support before making such an assault, but Colonel Tucker had an ace up his sleeve. His men had recently captured a whole truckload of panzerfausts, had practiced with them, and now were ready to use them on the enemy. Combined with the early arrival of the latest model of bazooka, Tucker figured his force was strong enough to carry out the assault alone.Attacker: American (504th Parachute Regiment, 1st and 3rd Battalions)

I was the attacking Americans with a dozen 747s and a Jackson against Gary's SS with half as many squads but some interesting supporting heavy metal. His Wirbelwind Flakpanzer with its impressive 20 IFE provided the low and high points (from my point of view) of the game, causing the STUN/Recall of my CE M36, but MALF'ed two turns later as it broke while having one of my 747s crossing a road in its sights. A really good scenario I would not mind playing again (...but as the defender!) | ||

Both AFVs met their demise from PF and BAZ45 fire. The Germans attempted a fallback defense to the I10 building but the dice were (way) too unkind to them, and ultimately it was too late - I10 fell to the Americans in Turn. |
