Overview:
Red Barricades Solitaire mission - As the fighting in Stalingrad has intensified you have found yourself surrounded by superior enemy forces. The enemy has thus far ignored you, but this situation is not likely to continue. In your sporadic last contact with HQ, you were ordered to attempt a breakout. You must reach friendly lines with as much of your force intact as possible. You are not sure if you will receive any support from HQ. Good luck!Attacker: German or Russian (FRIENDLY)

2021-04-30 | (A) John Taylor | vs | German | German or Russian win | I managed a 23 to 22 win playing as the Soviets. This was only due to luck; I scored a 10-3 in my starting forces and managed to get three extra turns (ending on turn 10) which was JUST enough to evacuate the bare minimum for the win. I suspect it would only be very slightly easier to win as the Germans since you don't have to fight through the fortress that is the 'Kindergarten' to get out (and it's two hexes shorter of an evacuation path.) S? Placement is a little unclear on the mission sheet. I ended up placing them in successive clockwise concentric "circles" incrementing the radius by one hex after each circle was complete. This means there are plenty of S? that will never be activated, but trust me, you won't lack for foes. |
