Overview:
By mid-February the Japanese had embarked their invasion force, bound for the south coast of Timor opposite Koepang. At roughly 0830 on 20 February, long-range Japanese aircraft began to scatter paratroopers in small drops all around the city. Their objective was to spread confusion by cutting Allied lines of communication. The largest group was assigned the task of cutting the road between the airfield and Koepang. Reinforced with a second drop the next day, this group had established a sturdy block by the time the Allies recovered from their confusion of the previous day and Lt.-Col. Leggatt, commander of "Sparrow Force" ordered a counterattack to clear the road.Attacker: Australian / Dutch (Company C, 2/40th Infantry Battalion and 2nd East Indies Colonial Infantry Company)

2023-10-15 | (A) Kevin Duval | vs | Dwayne Duval | A | Australian / Dutch win | It was looking difficult for the Allies in first couple of turns but once they closed the gap across open ground it was a constant push to find the Roadblock. Squeaked out the win by eliminating the Roadblock on last DFPh! | |

2021-06-27 | (A) Shane Pask | vs | Japanese win | I have previously played KP167 which requires the attacker to remove roadblocks and knew how hard it is. If the Japs set up the roadblock to the rear (as they did) just reaching it could be a problem (and it was) but I still found the scenario enjoyable. The Dutch headed over the hills with little problem (winning both CC they entered) but still could not reach the roadblock in time. The Aussie advance in the centre ran into a HMG they could not clear or bypass (and they had no smoke) and the advance to the north met the MTR of doom - the 9-2 was killed on the first shot, his squads broke and abandoned the MMG and then a ROF tear destroyed everyone else on that flank (with help from the Sniper). A little help from this flank may have given the Dutch a chance to reach the roadblock - with enough time to clear it is still doubtful. |
