Overview:
Operation Veritable kicked off in the early morning of the 8th, and progress throughout the day was better than expected. Plans called for several units to wait to attack after darkness had fallen, and some of these had the unenviable task of attacking flooded villages. The Germans had breached the Rhine River flood controls in many areas in an attempt to slow down the Allied advance. The flooded villages would need to be cleared out to protect the flank of the 21st Army Group. One of these was the village of Niel, dubbed “Little Tobruk” due to its fortified nature.Attacker: Canadian (1st Canadian Scottish Regiment, 7th Infantry Brigade, and 79th Armoured Division)
Defender: German (84th Infanterie Division)

2021-05-29 | (D) Martí Cabré | vs | Andy Beaton | German win | The Canadians pushed against a single on the north part of the island and then advanced slowly. A ship was destroyed, another one got UK, some units got wading in the water... a nice representation of an amphibious assault. But even with the Germans losing their gun, the Canadians were to slow to advance inland to the southern buildings and conceded on turn 4 of 6. The scenario can be quite random as all scenarios with special entry of units, but uses rare rules as amphibious vehicles and wading, so it's worth a try.

2018-12-01 | (A) Kermit Mullins | vs | Dan Best | Canadian win | An interesting scenario that was fun to play. My Canadians secured the victory by the end of Turn 4, but in large measure due to tough rolls which caused my opponent's AT Gun, an LMG, and the MMG to all break. Panzerfaust checks ended up with Pins as often as they did Panzerfausts and then the shots missed most of the time. The Canadian sniper twice DM'd German units already in Melee, which again did terrible damage to the German effort. My opponent hung in there despite the bad luck and made it a good game nonetheless.

2016-02-11 | (A) Vic Lauterbach | vs | ML | German win | Very close - Canadians could not get into last upper level location for CC! Getting ashore was tricky - lots of ASLRB checks. Germans chose to mostly skulk and stay concealed which worked. PF were ineffective, but 37L got two Buffaloes. |
